Making it Official

17 And as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside, and on the way he said to them, 18 “See, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death 19 and deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.” (Matthew 20)
Jesus had been dropping "hints" for some time as to what was going to happen upon their visit to Jerusalem for the Passover. Now He was telling the disciples in detail how official this really was. He summarizes the Passion succinctly, and tells them that this will require official action on the part of both the Jewish and Roman officials. Both will "sign off" on His death - Jews and Gentiles alike. Good thing for us all - Jesus' death, burial and ressurection are sufficient payment for all sinners, and applicable for all who will "sign up", accepting His payment. Jesus died for you and me, was buried, taking our sins to the grave, and rose again to offer life to all who trust Him as Savior. It's an official, historical event. Have you made your faith "official", accepting Him and what He has done for you?
