God's Prayer Promise: Temptation

11 Now these things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction, on whom the end of the ages has come. 12 Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. (I Corinthians 10)
Don't think temptation can't strike you.  There is a tendency we often have to think that we have arrived spiritually, just like when the people of Israel stood at the base of the mountain after being delivered from Egypt and thought they were in the promised land. Then they gave in to idolatry and immorality.  Just when we think we have victory in an area of our lives, we can be sure Satan will be back with another attack. But there is no reason to be discouraged or afraid. It happens to all of us. And with this reality check comes a promise: God is faithful and He is here, ready to help us resist the temptation. He ALWAYS makes a way of escape. Whether we choose to take it or not is a different story. For years as a young person, I thought God had written this verse just for me. But over the years I have found a number of people who claimed this promise for themselves.  Feel free to use it. We're going to need it.
