Matthew 28:16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go.17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Throughout Christ's ministry, whenever they religious leaders interacted with Him, there was always this question in their minds, and sometimes on their lips: "By whose authority are you doing and saying these things." It happened when He was teaching in the synagogues or temple. It happened when He healed on the Sabbath or drove out demons. Jesus has now answered these questions-not just verbally, but through His resurrection from the dead. As those who are under His rule and reign, we have confidence to move forward in what He has said and taught. We do not need to second guess our motives: the Holy Spirit is within us to guide us. We have confidence in our foundation and our destination.
